Conscious Intent

Here at Aquarius we claim that all our flower remedies are made with Conscious Intent, but what does that actually mean?

My son has a book of ‘Freaky Facts’. I just love opening it at random to learn such things as: it takes 72 muscles to speak one word; tonsurophobia is the fear of haircuts; bigger raindrops make bigger rainbows; the human sneeze exists the mouth at 300 miles per hour and that plants which are stroked grow better than those not stroked.

It is obvious we are affected by plants, we cultivate enough of them for purely aesthetic purposes, yet this last freaky fact shows that plants are also affected by us.

There is a two-way relationship between plant and human consciousness. The consciousness of the plant, captured in a flower remedy, is able to have an impact on our consciousness and our own consciousness is able to impact upon the consciousness of the plant and therefore the flower remedy.

Bearing all this in mind we begin to realise that our own consciousness plays a role in the making of flower remedies.   So another Freaky Fact is that it is not only through our actions that we make flower remedies but our thoughts too.

Right from the earliest years of flower remedy making we can see the influence of the human mind at work upon the making of the remedies. Nora Weeks, who published her biography of Dr. Bach in 1940 - only 3 years or so after his death – gives a clear account of the human mind shaping flower remedies. “For some days before the discovery of each one he suffered himself from the state of mind for which that particular remedy was required, and suffered it to such an intensified degree that those with him marvelled that it was possible for a human being to suffer so and retain his sanity….Bach knew that with the discovery of the right remedy that particular mental and bodily torture would cease.” Cherry Plum, Sweet Chestnut, Crap Apple, Walnut, Holly etc., all these famous flower remedies are infused with the mind (mental suffering) of Edward Bach.

A good example of the influence of the mind at work in my own remedy making can be read about in the article “A Handful of Peach”.

However, it is not only in the initial making of flower remedies, the preparation of the mother tincture, that our consciousness is influential but also the subsequent dilutions to stock and dosage levels. [The 1st. or stock level of dilution is used for all individual flower remedies that you may buy, while the 2nd. or dosage level of dilution is used for flower essence combinations, where several individual (stock) remedies are mixed together in one bottle.] Since here at Aquarius we are producers of flower remedies we are diluting down our mother tinctures to the stock level of dilution for sale to the public. The consciousness contained in a mother tincture is transferred to the stock bottle of flower remedy in two ways. It is done physically by putting two drops from the original mother tincture in the 10ml or 30 ml bottle that contains a brandy/water mix. It is also done in a non-physical way by using the mind or conscious intent.

As the drops of mother tincture enter the stock bottle I hold the image of the flower in my mind. Each mother tincture I have made contains a story that is remembered every time it comes out of the cupboard to make a flower remedy for sale - the place of making, the process by which the remedy was identified. This too is transferred to the stock bottle. For Dr. Bach, in those few months between the making of his remedies and his death, he would have remembered the suffering he went through each time he prepared a stock bottle of flower remedy from his original mother tincture.

The making of flower remedies needs to be done without any mental distractions – no music or radio and a mind that is not distracted by all the things a mind gets distracted by because the mind needs to be able to focus, with intent, on transferring the consciousness from one bottle to another. Conscious intent is a kind of meditation but also a kind of prayer. Conscious intent creates the atmosphere around which the physical act of making a remedy occurs.

The use of conscious intent is just as important in the making of flower remedies at the dosage or 2nd. level of dilution into flower essence combinations. Here at Aquarius we might get an order for 24 of our Sleep combination. So we fill 24 bottles with one quarter brandy and three quarters water. These are all placed around a large quartz crystal with the lids off. 2 drops from each of the stock remedies in the Sleep combination formula are added to all of these bottles. So as the 48 drops of chamomile are added to the bottles I hold the image, the feeling, the sense of chamomile above and around the bottles. The quartz helps focus and direct this mental process. This is then repeated as the flower remedies of lloydia, morning glory and other remedies are added. The same process is followed in the making of personalised, one off , flower remedy combinations.

The final act of conscious intent in making a flower remedy is its blessing. This can be done in a number of ways such as holding it in the hands, visualising it full of white light, saying an appropriate prayer. Here at Aquarius we place every flower remedies we make on a quartz crystal bed (see images) before it is sent on its way. This is our way of blessing each remedy we make.

Having written all this it is worth mentioning that flower remedies will work without any addition of conscious intent, it’s just that we feel they work better with this type of input.
